Let's face it. This isn't about games anymore.
Linky!
Ever since I got the Google Notebook (with matching Firefox extension), I've been saving up links that I thought were cool, funny, interesting, whatever.
So, here's this weeks link dump:
Hip Hop Swing Dancers
A couple of swing dancers from the sixties are set to a modern hip-hop song, with surprising synchronicity.
Stone Golem
These LARPers put a bunch of foam and paint together, and made a surprisingly realistic-looking Stone Golem outfit.
Ten Things I Hate About Commandments
In the spirit of the heartwarming comedy trailer "The Shining" and the spooky stalker thriller "Sleepless in Seattle" comes the latest odd trailer mash-up. This time, it's the Charlton Heston movie "The Ten Commandments" remixed as a John Hughes high-school romp. Brought to you by the makers of "Must Love Jaws".
Mid-air Viewscreen
Using smoke and projectors, these guys create a viewscreen in midair, which allows for 3D display and a touchscreen interface. Why they didn't render Princess Leia on there, I'll never know.
Piracy Costs 5 Times More than the GDP of France
If you assume that the RIAA is right, that every traded song makes them lose $150,000, then you take the number of songs traded on the Pirate Bay in a single month, then the RIAA is losing around 11 trillion dollars per month. Does that mean the punishment is too extreme? Or does it mean that, in a legal world, the RIAA would should rightfully own the world by now?
Window Resizers
A couple of guys resize your browser window for you. It's a little disconcerting, but very cool.
Photomosaics Forever
A photomosaic is a picture that is made up of thousands of smaller pictures. But what if, when you zoomed in on the smaller pictures, they too were made up of thousands of smaller pictures. This page lets you zoom in forever, literally.
Violent Games are Good for Kids
"At least one study argues that make-believe violence helps children 'conquer fears and develop a sense of identity', as gruesome fairytales once did." Sigh. In much the same way scientists don't ask a wino about drinking, they take years to figure out what game players already know.
More next week, if I feel like it.
